A kaleidoscopic blend of CGI animation, 16mm film, hand-processed film, and destroyed archival film form filmmaker Suneil Sanzgiri's Two Refusals (Would We Recognize Ourselves Unbroken?). Part experimental documentary, part film-essay, and part fantasy, Two Refusals delves into Portugal's colonial histories across India and Africa – uncovering links and kinships that developed between historical resistance figures in the two continents, from Goa to Mozambique, and from Angola to Guinea-Bissau. The film's glistening soundtrack was composed by musician and improviser Amirtha Kidambi, who performed at last year's festival.
