Saxophonist and composer Colin Stetson will bring his new album The Love It Took to Leave You (2024) to Rewire 2025, marking his first live performance in the Netherlands in six years. The tracks, recorded in single takes with no overdubs, showcase Stetson’s remarkable skill and technique, including his use of circular breathing. In his live performances, Stetson’s haunting, drone-infused compositions balance melancholy with hope, conveying despair while weaving a sense of rebirth through the rhythm and melody of his horns.
The UK cult producer Shackleton will perform with trio Holy Tongue (Valentina Magaletti, Al Wootton, Susumu Mukai) their collaborative album The Tumbling Psychic Joy of Now (2024) at Rewire 2025. This latest release blends Holy Tongue's intense, punk-infused rhythms with Sam Shackleton's genre-defying dub, creating a ritualistic and psychedelic atmosphere. Tracks like Blessed and Bewildered feature polyrhythmic percussion and deep echo effects, inviting listeners into an immersive, trance-like experience with shifting beats and textures.
Milan W. is a Belgian experimental musician professionally daydreaming, and also known for playing in multiple bands such as Flying Horseman. His solo project unveils a serpentine rural pop in Leave Another Day (2024), with a tonal warmth submerged in ancient syrups. His melodic synth fables display a cosmic fantasy, traversing floaty ballads soaked in a slow, languish sonic memoir.
Body Meat is singer and producer Christopher Taylor’s project blending pop with R&B, IDM, trap, and metal. His catchy vocals burst in his latest album Starchris, an acutely layered dungeon with each track unfolding like a new level. These exhilarating autotune mixtures make glitch a worldbuilding tool playing with repetitions, as if an avatar is still figuring out the next turn in the labyrinth.
DJ Plead and rRoxymore will present a unique back-to-back DJ set at Rewire 2025. Lebanese producer DJ Plead creates rigorous and frenetic club music evading genres, while DJ and producer rRoxymore toured for a decade honing her experimental sound. Their collaborative EP Read Round City (2024) blends tight, club-inspired bass and percussion with shimmering electronic layers, crafting a rich soundscape of interwoven rhythms, levitating between downtempo and uptempo. Their energetic sets dip the listener into cheerful basses.
The singer maya dhondt, a classically trained pianist and composer, creates a unique fusion of glitch-pop and contemporary piano pieces. Her music blends whispered vocals, eerie tones, and fragmented electronic beats weaving a rich, immersive soundscape that feels both haunting and whimsical. In wow, x (2024) dhondt’s compositions shift seamlessly between foggy and playful atmospheres, capturing a dreamlike quality in every piece.
The noise duo Yellow Swans, made up of Gabriel Saloman and Pete Swanson, spans across psychedelic, industrial, drone, and hardcore – returning after their fifteen-year-longs break. Their aptly named recent release Out Of Practice I and II offers a new window on their rough and stained atmospheres – allowing a glimpse into microtextures and pseudo guttural scratches.
