With the number of vacant church buildings in the Netherlands on the rise, Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed Kerk & Kunst initiative seeks to reconnect the public with these historic sites through the work of contemporary artists from a wide range of disciplines. In conversation with church-goers, visitors and the buildings themselves, the Kerk & Kunst programme investigates the multidimensional nature of church buildings as spaces for creativity, inspiration, reflection and imagination, resulting in six surprising and publicly accessible art events across the Netherlands.
For our music programme at Resonance, we invite Kali Malone, Martijn Comes and NYX to perform at Stevenskerk in Nijmegen for three unique performances. VPRO 3voor12 Gelderland have also written a piece previewing Resonance.
Tickets for Resonance are €5 for regular admission, and free for students/<27 yr/CJP-members (registration required). Order/register via rewirefestival.nl/tickets.
