After a moving kick-off event at Korzo last month with Mary Lattimore, Liz Harris (Grouper) and Roy Montgomery, on Friday 1 November we’re returning to one of our favourite theatres in the Hague for the second Rewire x Korzo of the season. Multi-instrumentalist Wacław Zimpel and producer Rabih Beaini will present a rare collaborative live show alongside performances from Rotterdam acts Red Brut and Animistic Beliefs.
Friday 1 November
Location: Korzo Theater, Prinsestraat 42, The Hague
Doors open at 20:00, concerts start at 20:30
Presale: €13 / €10 (students, CJP and age below 27)
Door: €15 / €12 (students, CJP and age below 27)
At Rewire x Korzo Rabih Beaini and Waclaw Zimpel will delve deeper into practices they’ve been working on in recent years. Besides the Thai Khaen (mouth Organ) and the clarinet, Zimpel will enrich his sound range with instruments from Rajasthan and the Slovakian mountains, while Beaini will expand on it with the use of his processing rig, adding bottom and noise with a self-built string instrument. The stage will witness a natural dialogue between the two, with improvisation leading to composition parts and a dedicated sound design, building up on intensity and non-well-tempered musical scales.
Curious as to what to expect? Listen to Wacław Zimpel’s sublime solo album LINES:
Two emerging artists from Rotterdam’s vibrant underground electronic music scene complete the lineup. Musique concrète composer and member of Sweat Tongue Red Brut AKA Marijn Verbiesen will open for Zimpel / Shackleton, with modular synth duo Animistic Beliefs billed for the close. The pair will be playing heady electro from their stunning debut album, ‘Mindset:Reset’, out now on the Solar One Music label.
