YHWH Nailgun is Zack Borzone on vocals, Jack Tobias on synth, Sam Pickard on drums, and Saguiv Rosenstock on guitar. The quartet create experimental and ecstatic body music, lathered in percussion and distortion. Beginning as a project between Borzone and Pickard in Philadelphia, upon moving to New York, YHWH Nailgun expanded to include Tobias and Rosenstock. Both of these cities’ influences can be heard in their sound: the energetic chaos of the Philadelphia hardcore scene is just as audible as the experimentation of New York’s bygone no wave and post-punk scenes. In YHWH Nailgun, the genre-traversing, turbulent freedom of no wave is blended into the new wave sounds of synthesised wails and the harsh percussion of industrial music. Their debut EP, No Midwife And I Wingflap (2022), arrived like an unexpected volcanic eruption, and their latest single “Penetrator,” on label AD 93, signals an incredibly promising future for this must-see act, who release their debut album in 2025.
