After years of studying classical music, Latvian producer and artist Agata Melnikova turned to her love of ethereal synth sounds to become Sign Libra. Her debut album ‘Closer to the Equator’, a modern new age synthesis of a tropical rainforest microcosm, was inspired by BBC nature documentaries and written for a contemporary ballet performance. Combining informative research with childlike imagination, Sign Libra’s work approaches man’s relationship with nature with a keen sense of humour and playfulness. At Rewire 2020, experience the celestial sounds of ‘Sea to Sea’, Melnikova’s current record for RVNG Intl., inspired by the lunar maria, the ancient volcanic formations on the surface of the Moon, thought to be actual seas by early astronomers.
