After meeting at a music festival, pianist Nicoletta Favari and percussionist Christopher Salvito realized their interests were harmonic, and in 2015 began working together as Passepartout Duo. Since then they've challenged each other constantly, refusing to stay in one place and masterminding eccentric sonic landscapes that defy categorization. Their first EP, "Ólafsfjörður" was their most straightforward release, a selection of jazzy instrumental tracks inspired by a small fishing village in the north of Iceland. 2020's "Vis-à-Vis" was completely different, a combination of ambient electronics and subdued percussion augmented by a portable set of homemade instruments. This year, they released their most confounding record to date, "Epigrams", that explores the hypnotic sound world of the legendary Buchla modular synthesizer. They present an extended video for “Vis-à-Vis” at Rewire 2021.
