Panda Bear, the moniker of Noah Lennox, likely needs no introduction. His work as part of pioneering experimental group Animal Collective defined a generation. His solo project Panda Bear honed that work into its purest form, traversing down strange paths to create unparalleled albums like the iconic and timeless Person Pitch (2007), Tomboy (2011), Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper (2015), and many others. He returns to Rewire to perform music from his forthcoming new album Sinister Grift (2025) alongside Tim Koh on electric bass, Rivka Ravede on backing vocals and electronics, Maria Reis on backing vocals and keyboards, and Tomé Silva on drums. Whirlwind acidic solos, garage-y organs, and jangling guitar licks find a home in Sinister Grift. It delivers a cosmic sound tinted by Lennox’s signature hazy electronics and unmistakable medieval-futurist vocal chords. Sinister Grift is a sunny-side-up serving of patient, California-via-Lisbon psychedelia that is strangely familiar yet curiously out of time.
