Anyone listening to the sharp, inventive synth compositions of producer, DJ, and musician Olof Dreijer is sure to be graced by a sense of both comforting familiarity and exciting newness. As a founding member of The Knife, his distinct sound and playful compositional ear unmistakably shaped a generation of electronic, dance, and pop listeners and musicians alike, leaving an indelible impression on the soundscape of contemporary music at large over the past two decades. After producing a number of tracks for Rewire alum Fever Ray’s beloved last album Radical Romantics (2023), collaborating with Mount Sims on Souvenir (2023), and releasing the club-focussed Rosa Rugosa (2023) on label Hessle Audio late last year, Dreijer returns with his latest EP Coral (2024) on label AD93 – a release bursting with poppy dance flavours and animated steel-drum melodies. At Rewire 2024, Dreijer presents a DJ set that promises to be a colourful collage of clubby wonder. His club sets are a joyful concatenation of his own music, batida, Brazilian funk, house, techno, and R&B, but always adorned with his iconic saw-tooth synthesis stylings.
