Sunday, 8 April
For this edition of our Musical Material series, we present an artist talk with Argentinian composer Beatriz Ferreyra. An original pioneer of musique concrète and an influential member of the Groupe de Recherches Musicales (GRM) in Paris, Beatriz Ferreyra has stood at the vanguard of electroacoustic experimentation since the 1960s. In her own work, she explores an intuitive method of free electroacoustic composition that embraces a range of tape cutting techniques as well as acoustic instrumentation and electronic technologies. In this conversation, we retrace her career, experiences and musical practice.
Musical Material is a series of inspiring encounters on Sunday afternoons hosted by Rewire and West Den Haag, during which specialists in the fields of music, art and reflection test and discuss their work in an intimate setting.
Beatriz Ferreyra also performs live at Rewire 2018 on Sunday, 8 April.
This talk is part of the Rewire 2018 discourse programme, which can be visited free of charge.
