Meuko! Meuko! is the solo project of Taipei-based experimental music producer and live performer Pon. With an approach that links back to Taiwan’s own spiritual landscape, Meuko! Meuko! combines noise, club music, and field recordings into glitchy atmospheric dance tracks. KUO Chih-Yi, aka NONEYE, is an Taiwanese inter-disciplinary developer and media artist, and is co-founder and director of the new media art group NAXS Corp. At Rewire they present the live A/V show Invisible General. Invisible General is a sequel to Meuko! Meuko!’s 2018 album on Danse Noire, ⻤島 Ghost Island, which blended mythology and acoustic instruments with electronic beats and cacophonous samples – bringing traditional sounds together with contemporary electronics and the harsh sounds of modern life. A spectacle of desolate, sprawling geographies and monuments – described by the artists as “anti-utopian” – the visual elements of the collaboration fit perfectly with the industrial-tinged beats that drive Meuko! Meuko!’s music forward.
