Rewire is excited to present the world premiere of a live performance by Lila Tirando a Violeta & Sin Maldita. This collaboration between experimental Uruguayan club producer Lila Tirando a Violeta – following the lauded album Desire Path (2022) on label N.A.A.F.I – and the Berlin-based avant-pop producer Sin Maidita ripples with punchy drums, ravey synth lines, and otherworldly texture. Drawing inspiration from beloved underground 90s anime Serial Experiments Lain and author James Joyce's Finnegans Wake (1939), their recent album on label Hyperdub, Accela (2023), bursts with noisy cyberpunk vitality. Recalling the digital yet spiritual parallel computer-world of “The Wired” from Lain, the album has a cybernetic force running through it: both bustlingly animatronic and ceremonially human. The music of Lila Tirando a Violeta & Sin Maldita follows the nonlinear dream narrative of Joyce’s Finnegans Wake to create a spectral soundscape of vivid breakbeats, raucous drum and bass, cinematic synthesis, and club-worthy percussive imagination. The ghost in the project’s shell is its sparkling melodic sensibility; it stokes a flowing animal intensity that pushes against the immense wall of crackling, ambiguous, digital sounds.
