In the world of transgressive, experimental, and transdisciplinary creation, there are few artists with practices as storied and renowned as Laurie Anderson. The pioneering writer, director, composer, visual artist, musician, and vocalist has had a decades-spanning career across the worlds of art, theatre, experimental music, and technology – including five Grammy nominations and the publication of ten books. From the art-pop excellence of her groundbreaking debut album Big Science (1980) to her exhibition work in galleries across the world, and with a list of collaborators ranging from Jean-Michel Jarre and Wim Wenders to Lou Reed and John Cage, Anderson's is truly a one-of-a-kind career fit for a generational talent. Rewire is thrilled to welcome Laurie Anderson back to The Hague – following a focus programme around her work at the festival in 2018 – to perform during the closing moments of the weekend in Amare's enchanting concert hall, accompanied by composer and electro-acoustic violinist Martha Mooke.
