KRK is George Cremaschi (contrabass and electronics) and Matthew Ostrowski (electronics and controllers). Since their foundation in 2005 the duo have looked tointegrateelectronic and acoustic sounds, often in a brutal, “head on” manner, using things as diverse as catgut and horsehair to infrared sensing and concatenative synthesis (a technique for synthesising sounds by concatenating short samples of recorded sound). Their compositions are tough, spontaneousandoften fiercely presented, but rigorously kept in line; creating a sonic atmosphere that feels as if it’s balanced on a wire-edge. In KRK’s work,Musique Concrèteoften collides with extended virtuoso techniques to shape indeterminate and maybeundiscovered spaces in electro-acoustic performance.
