Klara Lewis (SE)

Editions Mego

Klara Lewis’s debut release, Ett, described by The Quietus as“one of the most startling albums to have seen the light in this first half of 2014”is a remarkable album; one created from what the artist’s label has described as “organic sound matter”. Such hyperbole is undoubtledly deserved, though trying to form a definitive opinion on Lewis’s huge, enveloping washes of sound is difficult. Her work is, however, empathic and embracing, and covers a wide range of attitudes and approaches. And although her music is very much of the digital age, references can be made to early works from electronic greats like Cluster or Popol Vuh.
