Gardland has been described as a “cracked energy exchange”between Alex MurrayandMark Smith. The ideas for their recent LP, Syndrome Syndrome, came about after a (doubtless bruising) ten day ‘“psychedelic desert excursion”;far from their homes in Sydney, Australia. Although Garland state they are “happy to co-exist with disorder”, the duo’s music doesn’t always seem driven by a love for chaos.Rather, Gardland use the rapid stabs, blurts and squiggles to form strong melodic passages; in a wider – and colourful – electronic attack.
