Farzaneh Nouri, aka Farzané, is a musician, researcher, and sound artist based in the Netherlands. She builds sci-fi soundscapes of obliterating noise and industrial, machinic impulses. Imagine a bipedal figure trudging out from the fog, adorned with human eyes half-sunken into its metal face – this is how Farzané's music feels. The interplay of technology and humanity is a core part of Nouri's research interests; currently she is focused on ways of implementing artificial intelligence methods into the framework of live electroacoustic improvisation. She does this through creative coding, field recording, live electronics, and both acoustic and programmable instruments. The cacophonous clamor and textures she wields play in the borderlands between human and machine perception – offering unusual viewpoints into the complex, unwieldy systems of the contemporary world.
