Drvg Cvlvtre – aka Tilburg-based producer Vincent Koreman – excels in creating monolithic, ‘single minded’ slabs of techno and doom house. Recently signed to the legendary US label, Nervous records (who have released the likes of Todd Terry and Frankie Knuckles), Koreman’s vision is often set against gritty, often forbidding backdrops of slate-like industrial noise. Drvg Cvlvtre’s sound is also adept in exploring the black holes between states of consciousness; dealing in an insensibility that is taken to a noisy and crashing extreme. The results are exciting and uncompromising; earlier this year the Guardian went as far as to suggest that Koreman’s work had a hint of brutality about it.
