Dragging the iconic “Madchester” sound through time and space to their home city of Amsterdam, comforter2 are an indie dance group bursting with ecstatic grooves and melancholic melody. Formed while in a snowed-in residency during pandemic times by a number of beloved Amsterdam club scene staples – former De School resident Tammo Hesselink, Nous'klaer Audio regular Meetsysteem, and DJ and producer Mary – comforter2 have been making a name for themselves as a “band for the club heads and a club act for the band heads.” Their debut album Tell Me Something Happy (Before I Fall Asleep) (2023) is a 16-track opus of rattling breakbeats, distorted bass, and catchy pop hooks. Described by the band as “an honest, upfront album about the highs and lows of modern life, seen through the eyes of ravers at their peak,” it proves that sometimes it can actually be a good idea to let the DJ pick up a guitar at the afters. Live, the group is accompanied by Sjoerd Bartlema on drums and Fokke de Wit on bass guitar.
