Sunday, 8 April
Argentinian composer Beatriz Ferreyra has stood at the vanguard of electroacoustic experimentation since the 1960s. A pioneer of early musique concrète and influential member of the Groupe de Recherches Musicales (GRM), her own works – anthologized by Editions Mego in 2015 – explore an intuitive method of free electroacoustic composition that embraces a range of tape cutting techniques as well as acoustic instrumentation and electronic technologies, ushering Pierre Schaeffer’s utopian musique concrète into the future.
In addition to her live performance, Beatriz Ferreyra will also join us for a Musical Material artist talk on Sunday, 8 April.
