Sam Green's intimate portrait of pioneering experimental composer and musician Annea Lockwood gives a glimpse into the enthralling worlds of sound that she has been creating and exploring for many years. Lockwood treats every sound as “a piece of music in itself.” This is one of Green’s main interests in his most recent feature-length 32 Sounds – also shown at Rewire 2024 – which isolates specific aural sensations one might hear in their lifetime. Here, in A film About Listening, he focuses solely on Lockwood, fascinated by her revelatory way of relating to the world through the simple act of listening.
